Mayflower is under near full sail including both main and fore bonnets set, bearing away to the West having worked her way out of the difficult channels of Plymouth Sound.

Mayflower
Mayflower off Rame, a detail

Mayflower is a typical English merchant ship of her period, 1620.

Mayflower is believed to have traded before her historic voyage to the Baltic for general goods and to Bordeaux, western France, for wines.

Mayflower is a Galleon, English, circa 1620 or more correctly a ‘Race Galleon’, her Captain was from Harwich her most famous voyage was from Plymouth, Devon.

Historical inaccuracy, propaganda and outright lies, there is so much in circulation.

I make a very considerable effort to present you with art work which at the least gives you a feeling of intimacy and is in many instances, as near truth as near ‘documentary’, as meticulous, diligent research can get.
