The Porte de la Mer (not spelt Mere) built 1315, of Cadillac which was founded in 1280 like so many of the towns in Entre duex Meres, by the English.
Cadillac is a charming small town largely unspoilt, not much frequented by tourists, their loss.
Increasingly noted for the quality of it’s wines, it is the centre for some 20 communes.
This large tower with a gate stands on the river wall of the bastide town, today limited to pedestrian usage and some 300 yards (300 metres) from the deep and fast flowing Gironnde.
The restaurant is a fine sunlight place for a gourmand lunch.
Painted on location as a power painting exercise.
