Drake and slavery
Knocking down statues has become the ‘in’ thing among part of our population.
Now- Wow we have a proposal to knock off Sir Francis Drake, remove his statue from Plymouth Hoe.
If you disagree I suggest you sign the petition to keep the statue on site in place.

We might as well knock down the Pyramids as they were allegedly built by slave labour.
Such vandalism would be bad for tourism !

I feel honoured to have been commissioned to make #paintings 3 times, “Roaring Forties“, “The Clipper Way” and “Dumra departing Bombay“.
I produced prints for the first two paintings made for Sir Robin #Knox–#Johnston which we both signed [a few copies are still available], and I am proud to be considered one of his friends.
“Roaring Forties” subsequently is and continues to be reproduced in journals world wide and is a proven influential painting.
Robin still is a considerable influence and benefit for many lives, mine included.

The marine painting of “Jane Banks entering Bermuda” (see page http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/jane_banks_entering.html) has inspired a painting poem! 
I am delighted and honoured to find my painting has inspired a poem now an addition to the beautiful music of Bob Brennan.
The request for a marine print of “Jane Banks” also brought about a rare chance to meet a descendant of one of the captains of “Jane Banks“.
Possible projects include a Laperouse painting, one or 2 on the theme of Nelson and Trafalgar (because the Victory 2005 series are about to become available for sale, I will write the story here soon) a further famous wine village series this time involving more working people in the paintings, and I have a new idea that relates to paintings about some of the big issues of our times.

After posting letters to GB and buying fresh bread, was stopped unexpectedly for a coffee in Castelneau de Montmiral in the “place” by a friend of many years and fellow spirirt, artist Jill Lane.
