Racing yachts, Swans in full flight.

Finished this week, a spirited marine painting of Nautor Swan yachts racing in classic style.

This fine example of marine painting (36″ x 28″)  is intended to be reserved as an exhibition piece and be offered for a modest £1,200.00; unless some one before then, makes me an offer I can’t refuse!Swans__014.04.10_IMG_7219_d.jpg

"Racing Yachts" and the Yachting World prize

A warmer day today (still F cold this eve). Excellent light today for painting.
Alone in the studio, I was able to spread out a bit and enjoy the calm, concentrate.
I am more productive given a tranquil studio. I recently worked out I could manage with a minimum of 75 sq m space to live and work, of course it would have some conditions attached, like good light, calm atmosphere and ADSL/Broadband…
The new marine painting “Racing Yachts” featuring Swan Nautor type yachts is almost complete. Yacht_racing__Swans__det_1_IMG_6969_wp.jpg

Racing Yachts Marine Paintings, Marine Photography

I still find photographing marine art, well, any paintings, stressful.

I am yet to find a camera or film that always makes a good job of this even under ideal conditions and worse, some paintings are more difficult to copy than others, why?

Ice_Maiden_06.03.10_IMG_6982_d.jpgI have just re photographed two of the largest major marine paintings in my collection, “Ice Maiden” ( see page http://www.frickers.co.uk/prints.html for a limited edition copy) and “Yamaha“,Yamaha_painting_2_IMG_6975_d.jpg also the new painting “Racing Yachts“.

So where is the problem?

After a peaceful day working on marine art, (and my online tax return…) these marine paintings include one featuring the ship Samuel Plimsoll… I found this evening my best friend in India wrote to me today. We exchange much news on many topics.
I replied, Hi AP,
Thanks for the texts below. I have added a response for you.
On a more cheerful note, I know you are well read, like to read.
Have you read  the story of Mr. Samuel Plimsoll? I am only up to page 25 and find the book amazing. You can find it on Amazon.com

Marine painting progress and a super yacht dilema

Marine art has occupied much of my time over the past few days while I gradually develop a group of new marine paintings. I’ll tell more of the others over the next few days.

By biggest concern is for the Porto Fino super yacht scene which will show superyachts off Porto Fino at dusk.  Porto_Fino_2_IMG_6737_wp.jpgThe sketch here show the basic design.

It’s great to work on a delightful warm evening super yacht scene while outside we have – 4 C, steady snow falling and 2 inches ( 50 cms) of solid compacted ice on the hill into Itzac

Itzac_Noel_IMG_6614_d.jpgIs this an ideal world, what do you think?

Plymouth Cattewater and the first real working day of the new decade.

The Christmas and New Year period is usually quiet on the email front so a good time to work on the marine painting, including the large  harbour scene 30″ x 48″, Cattewater, Samuel Plimsoll. Cattewater_IMG_6735_d.jpg

On the subject of which today started with a message from a fellow painter.
