Drove north to the farm near Fougers, nearer, Fougerolles, driven by several necessities.
The painting I most wanted to bring south, “Going for Gold”, Ben Aynslie at the Sydney Olympics.
I wish to re work this very unusual portrait of Ben Aynslie.
Marine Art
Snow, panic and Ben Aynslie, a rare event or climate change?
The South of France was hit heavily by snow yesterday , over 3″ in places.
Some French are saying drivers in the South of France are upset by 2 days of rain, this snow is causing panic, catostrophy!
The snow arrived at Castelnau de Montmiral and Itzac during the night so what are the roads like?
how capitalism has and is driving
Possible projects include a Laperouse painting, one or 2 on the theme of Nelson and Trafalgar (because the Victory 2005 series are about to become available for sale, I will write the story here soon) a further famous wine village series this time involving more working people in the paintings, and I have a new idea that relates to paintings about some of the big issues of our times.
Obama, new signs & colour calibration
This may effect marine painters, they are putting up new signs at the White House, please don’t walk on the lake.
Meantime I am working on
"Vagrant off the Needles", only 3 left!
Stock control. “Vagrant off the Needles“, see http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/vagrant_needles.html, only 3 left!
A beautiful limited signed, numbered edition of an elegant schooner the famous Nathaniel Hershoff built at New York U.S.A.
“Vagrant off the Needles” was the first of my paintings to go into print thanks to Helen Swaby of De Montfort Fine Art http://www.demontfortfineart.co.uk/
Following a recent enquiry here,
Gold turns brown, the credit crisis, wine or dolphins?
Gold turns brown, an oblique reference to the credit crisis, dolpins or to wine?
An amusing French expression much used at Castelnau de Montmiral at present. Tous les jours ce n’est pas du temps de saison – all and every day it is not the weather for the season.
Kim died, she would like to carry out his wish…
Kim Stephens died before he could enjoy his painting as shown on http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/kim_stephens.html.
Morwhenna commissioned me saying they had been meaning to commission a
painting. Kim had died, she would like to carry out his wish.
This charming and very unusual marine painting of a Dart class cat, a watercolour, this week end caused a friend of many years to get in touch.
Gallerie Marin, Appledore, will reopen – Audrey Hinks told me this week.
Gallerie Marin (Market St, Appledore, N. Devon) reopening is great news for Audrey’s clients and artists including me, Gordon Frickers.
In my view Audrey Hinks is a great “people person”, one of the very, very few gallery owners who acts with total integrity with her clients and her artists.
Condell – the Ministry of Defence emailed permission
A very remarkable painting, “The Chilean National Frigate FF Almirante Condell departing Portsmouth, 2008” can now be added to our web site frickers.co.uk in our Marine gallery under Warships.
This marine painting is also a wonderful form of sales consolidation for the BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions (Operations) Limited / Ministry of Defence team who sold and refitted this frigate to Chilean requirements.
useful facts + excellent stories about Liberty ship Convoy
Liberty ships confounded the critics, served successfully in all theatres of the war and world wide long after, exceeding all expectations, a rare achievement and certainly helped defeat the Axis powers.
