The Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club is selling one of the best sea views in all Britain.

Royal barge

Built in 1688 as part of the Royal Citadel and with its own access to the water, the property has been used as a club house since 1896.
Michael Easton, director at commercial property agent JLL, said that the RPCYclub house’s ‘truly outstanding position’ would attract considerable interest.
And he said the reason behind the sale was to secure the long-term future of the club.
Members are said to be looking for alternative premises, or will be happy to continue in some capacity in the existing building if the marketing programme allows.
The Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club has a long history going back into the 19 th century, of organising some of the first dinghy and yacht racing in and around Plymouth.
The RPCYC is thought to be one of the last remaining privately owned freehold sites on the water’s edge in Plymouth Sound.
Dinghy park and ballroom
The freehold title includes a waterfront dinghy park, changing facilities and the sailing office. The club is used as a function and wedding venue and has revenues of around £400k per year. It has a ballroom, bar and separate restaurant together with a number of additional function rooms and outside terrace.
The property is available by informal tender with bids invited by no later than midday on March 15 2019. The club will continue to trade during the process.
