Updated, “Harvest Moon”, both the web site page renamed “Harvest Moon” and the painting have been updated in part responding to feed back from those lucky few who have seen this original painting ‘in the flesh’.
Many of the greatest painters of all time, J M W Turner for example, are known to have returned to a painting sometimes years later.

Race HQ finally received a satellite text message from Abhilash Tomy, the injured Indian solo sailor dismasted in the South Indian Ocean some 1,900 miles SW of Perth, Australia on Friday.
Abhilash Tomy is onboard a replica of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s famous yacht ‘Suhali’ in conditions not unlike those shown here when Spirit of Mystery’ was in about the same waters.
I painted this for the illustrious Pete Goss who described similar conditions.
Pete said his boat felt as if it was being repeatedly rammed by a car.
The boat experienced a knock down and a crewman was seriously injured.
50 years astern, Robin K-J became the first person to circumnavigate solo, non stop, Falmouth to Falmouth.
Back to today’s story, from subsequent messages, rescue authorities in Australia and India now know that the 39 year old Naval Commander is safe onboard his disabled yacht ‘Thuriya’ … take a closer look …
Can you replicate full size, v accurately, down to the last seagull and wave top, a painting by famous the artist N Wilkinson, lost when Titanic sank, I am asked?
The subject was “Plymouth Harbour”, a port that would have been one of Titanic’s destinations.
This can’t be a ‘copy’, all that remains of Wilkinson’s master piece is a poor photocopy and so this is bit of a detective story.
Mr. John B. Morgen you may recall, the subject was ‘ramming’. If you read my post and follow the link I’ve included for you, you may find yourself revising your opinion. Yes this instance cost HMS Gloworm her life and those of most of her crew. However it showed the Germans and eventually many others, then as now, there is a high price for messing with the Royal Navy.
I wish I had the time or a commission to honour the men by painting it. I don’t so for you I’ll attach a similarly atmospheric painting (the frigate HMS Saint Brides Bay, a commission, now a family treasure) that at least gives a hint of the weather HMS Gloworm was enduring when caught by the heavy cruiser Hipper.
Gloworm found herself in a no win situation so did what any British warship would do.
