The Trafalgar Way

Today, an enjoyable hour’s conversation with one of the organisers promoting this unusual project exploring ways I may be able to contribute.
They have asked to use some of my HMS Pickle paintings as images and for my service as a consultant.

Available, also as as numbered limited edition prints from £147.00.

You may recall, the route was taken in a series of express post chaise by Lieutenant John Richard Lapenotiere the Trafalgar messenger carrying the official dispatches, from Falmouth to the Admiralty, London and eventually to a meeting with King George.

This is a subject I researched in much detail initially when Official Artist to HMS Victory.

It’s become a classic story, I even found myself in Nelson’s cabin with presenter and journalist Tom Cunliffe, giving Lieutenant Lapenotiere a character reference for the TV series “The Boats That Built Britain”.

What next, you tell me ?!

The Trafalgar Messenger , one of The Nelson & Trafalgar Collection, available.

Today commemorated on Ordnance Survey maps and represents both a learning opportunity for those interested in the Georgian period and is good news for tourism especially for hotels and pubs along the way.
