Union Castle Line

Roslin Castle & Tantillion Castle, this original marine painting  measuring 61 x 91 cm (24″ x 36″), Oils, was commissioned by a former junior engineer. The two web site pages have been updated Following an interesting inquiry from the USA.

Roslin Castle
Roslin Castle and Tantillion Castle

The gentleman wrote “British companies such as Port Line and South American Saint Line led the way by designing handsome cargo-ships in the late 1940’s which were aesthetically pleasing , extremely functional and in addition carried a limited number of passengers in comfortable accommodation which rivalled that available in the passenger liners of the day.

I have recently had the undeniable pleasure of seeing your magnificent rendering of the Union Castle Line “ROSLIN CASTLE” an anchor off Port Louis (Mauritius) in close proximity to her stable-mate , “TANTALLON CASTLE” … and with , I think , a Blue Funnel cargo-vessel lurking in the background.

Would it be possible for me to obtain a copy of this classic work-of-art … either in print form , postcard , etc. ?”

Unfortunately this fine painting is not available in print so i have sent him a fair quality j’peg and some other info.

One of the main reasons I came to France was to quietly sort out the pages on my original web site.

As usual there is much more to this story and better illustrations on my web site page https://www.frickers.co.uk/art/marine-art/shipping-for-the-professionals/roslin-castle-at-mauritius-with-the-tantallon-castle/ , enjoy.
