Of fresh Cherries, champagne and painting

Painting to the end of another hard graft working day, after, cherries fresh from the garden and champagne, could be worse?  PoG 15.05.14 IMG_0535.JPG d_1.JPG

The Tarn is renowned for its fresh high quality foods.

Much was exported to Bordeaux by river in days gone by.

Were I came from (Kent) I remember cherries as an autumn luxury. Here in the Tarn we have had fresh strawberries for a month now (about £1.00 per punnet) like wise fresh asparagus at about £3.00 for  a bunch easily shared between 4 people. I still find it a bit bewildering, luxury foods so fresh, so early in the year and so cheap but then besides being very fertile and often getting 3 crops a year from fields, Midi Pyrenees is the most bio region of France, the fastest growing too.

Here is an update on the painting and some details.   PoG_15.05.14_MG_0538.JPG_d.JPG

Still a long way from complete. PoG_15.05.14__IMG_0544.JPG_d.JPG

For those interested to follow the creative process you can see the colours gradually evolving towards their final tints and shades.

This event is so important the Mayor of Montels even had the verges trimmed on all the approach roads; the first time in 20 years.

Are we expecting royalty?

Tomorrow evening the local and regional dignitaries are invited, Saturday evening clients and friends.
