Misty mornings and models

A lovely misty morning today, Helene took some fine photos, I was unfortunately to tired for an early start having stopped work and gone to anchor at 02.00 this morning so in the best Blue Peter tradition, here’s one I made earlier…  from_CdM_IMG_3714_01.09.08.jpg_wp.jpg

Today I must complete a press release for new print of the Spirit of Mystery in the Southern Ocean painting then work on the wine village series.

Pete Goss has kindly offered to proof read the release.

Today I have put wings on my Messerschmitt 109 f; soon it will be ready fly and help me plan a painting for the author David J B Smith.

This is by no means the first time I have built and used models.

Others include for the paintings of

PQ 13, Artic Convoy to Mourmansk – a JU 88

HMS Formidable, 1942 – Seafires returning – a Seafire ( the naval version of the Spitfire)

First Shots, Trafalgar and Nelson’s Column – model of HMS Victory

The loss of a new Handley Page Halifax – a Handley Page Halifax and a Messerschmitt Me 110

“Ferriera” ex “Cutty Sark”, “Last Departure” – model of the ‘Cutty Sark’ tea clipper

There were others and of course many times I have refered to authoritive models including some like HMS Centurion, George Anson’s ship, built as guides for shipwrights

This week I’ll finish paintings of Pomerol, a cafe in Sauveterre and a street scene of Sauternes and plan paintings of Castillon-la-Bataille and one of Sauveterre I shall call ‘dancing vines’ inspired by the wonderful afternoon I enjoyed there last August.

It is all rather exhausting, quite exhilarating too in its own way as was much of last week.
