Five marine paintings completed.

This month I have been marine painting as much as possible then a bit more
The light has been excellent, here are 2 evening pictures for you to enjoy.
Soon I’ll be ready to try photographing the paintings.

I’m hoping to improve on previous efforts by using a new Canon D 60.
The new paintings will appear first on this blog and quite soon.

Currently also very preoccupied with organising for an exhibition at the European Parliament next May,
This must include designing a worthy invitation and a catalogue.

In the latter the plan is to invite advertising to help cover costs.

The Catalogue will in effect be a book with ISBN and a collector’s item and of course tasks like listing the paintings, sending invitations and generally aiming to put on a very memorable show which may include the Plymouth Morris men and their famous spectacular, scary cutlass dance!

As for marketing, I’m looking for a new web site solution, to make a plan for investors in my ‘business’ and an agent to represent my work. I have a lot to learn about this, thanks to fellow painter David Folley I have 3 books to read on the subject.

I’d enjoy sailing again but when?
I doubt I’d be available to sail this year.
Bit of a pity as I have just had an invitation from my old ship mate from Falmouth, David Cunliffe to sail as tactician from Cowes in the Half Ton Cup.
The last time I sailed was July at Weymouth in an old boat with a mate who was a novice crew, the Wayfarer Worlds.

Right now I have my hands full weathering a flat calm in my part of the art market.
The new works are intended to test particular markets.

They include some major re working of earlier subjects: the Olympic games with Ben Aynslie which at last looks seriously impressive,  the Georgian navy including 2 ‘Nelson’ subjects, pearl fishermen with a sanbeq dhow and emigration.

Almost complete are paintings of the French perspective of Trafalgar Dawn, to be the opposite view to pair with the already renowned “Trafalgar dawn” as see from HMS Victory and available as a Heritage quality print from page

and a second moonlight ‘Emigration’ painting.

Still 5 paintings finished off must help, but how to find clients for them?

I’m looking forward to starting several new subjects including the Thames barge Cambria, the cutter Alert, mermaids at Kynance Cove and at St Tropez and a return to my old friend HMS Pickle.
