HMS Pickle, a new view, Pickle in a Pickle sails again

HMS Pickle, a new yarn to add to the thread of the renowned schooner Pickle of unlikely name and much disputed origins, the Pickle which heroically carried the news of the battle of Trafalgar and the death of Nelson (“Sir, we have won a great victory but we have lost Nelson“) is splendidly illustrated as a Heritage quality, signed numbered edition picture in “I have urgent dispatches“.
We are rarely able to see Gordon Frickers artwork in its final location so this is a treat! Pickle_2010_0815_201114_d.JPG

Gordon Frickers, Biography of a marine artist

Thanks to the world leading marine picture library, Pickthal’s Picture Library I have to write my own biography…

According to the Oxford dictionary a biography is “An account of some one’s life written by some one else“, hmmm.

Plan, there are lots of comments on my web site made by others so that can form the solid backbone of this biography of a marine artist.

Do you think this will be OK?

"Trafalgar, Nelson's plan…"

Trafalgar Dawn (http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/trafalgar_dawn.html)  has become a famous painting including being reproduced in several authoritative books and is available as a signed numbered Heritage edition from this web site.

For some years now friends have been asking me to paint and print the opposite view, from the French flagship, to make a pair, neat idea but the research proved very illusive.

Do have a look at the beginning of this historic painting and be one of the first people to to see pretty much what the French saw from their flag ship Bucentaure on that fateful Monday 21st October 1805.Trafalgar_Dawn__French_perspective__painting_in_progress_IMG_8530_14.09.10.JPG

Following some positive feed back via this blog,  Gordon Frickers have given this painting several new “coats of thought” and eventually reacted.

Comments are always of interest, did you know, you can leave yours at the tail of any blog entry?

If you look at earlier blog entries for The Flying Scotsman you can see if you can spot the changes?
