Detail from Vale of Gaillac 1

Painted on location, the colours and textures radiate that hot (40 degree) summer's day. Here we have a view looking East towards Albi, the road on the left leads to Gaillac, the small town in the near distance which gives its name to the splendid wines of this appellation (district).

This was the first of 2 studies made on consecutive days. You may want to compare this with the second study Vale of Gaillac 2.
