A view of Sauternes from the North; one comes upon this world famous village very suddenly, a cool fold in the earth, a slight valley, just enough to conceal a village of 650 souls, with a petite river, le Ciron. You pass the little little house of Ysabel, over a bridge passed a lavatoire that dates to Roman times, if your eyes closed for one deep breath you might miss it all including the 2 restaurants, the bakery, the tourist information and very important, the maison de sauternes, your chance to sample the unforgettable wines.
