A full size replica of the ship Zeven Provinciën is being built at the Batavia Werf, Lelystad, in the Netherlands as the core of a youth job training program. The name Zeven Provinciën has been used 6 times by the Royal Netherlands Navy including on a contemporary frigate. With this new picture, we see, based on extensive research the first and most famous Zeven Provinciën, and have included some of her history, with links, here in "further reading".
This marine painting of the Zeven Provinciën was commissioned for and by Henk van der Hoef who generously took the artist to the yard in the Netherlands to see the building replica of the "Zeven Provinciën" and talk with the staff including the master shipwright Willum Voss.
