Edward Prince of Wales, who went on to become King Edward the VII, later passed Britannia to King George V.

The Royal Yacht Britannia was ordered by Edward Prince of Wales to be specially designed by GL Watson.

Edward Prince of Wales often helmed Britannia himself.

Britannia was crewed thought out her life mostly by fishermen from the village of Wivenhoe, Essex (see Wivenhoe's history of the Royal Yacht Britannia), and other River Colne villages.
