While in Cannes on the cote d’azur sussing the super yachts, I spotted Sarafsa, the 3,250 ish ton super yacht – or is it superyacht?
As Sarafsa is now thoroughly in the public domain here are a couple of photos snapped as my boat passed Sarafsa.

The venue for this super yacht event is the legendary city of Monte Carlo, Port Hercule. This, the 19th Monaco Yacht Show 2009 is said to be THE superyacht venue of the year.
The weather was stunning, 28 C and not humid but my first sight of the exhibition had to wait. (more…)

At the Monaco Yacht Show 2009, Port Hercule, Monte Carlo, this was to be my first full working day in the world of superyachts, , meeting super yacht people, excluding the 4 commissions last year.
These remarkable people rapidly changed my perspective of the super yacht world.
For a start, The Monaco Yacht Show perhaps surprisingly has a carbon neutral certificate and advertises this fact with enthusiasm and when one learns more of he Monaco Yacht Show organisers achievements, with justifiable pride. (more…)

Final day of the Monaco Yacht Show, the world’s foremost exhibition for Superyachts. I have a plan of action…
I won’t have time for marine painting, or to look for possible commissions. I’ll not even have much time to take photographs.
My new brochure (ask for a copy or down load free from www.frickers.co.uk home page) is being very well received.
I have been amused to have several people say, wow, collector’s item!
Amused because there were a lot of seriously expensive brochures at Monte Carlo!
What surprises are in store today? (more…)

This time I drove to Monaco from Nice, with the Monaco Yacht Show is officially finished parking is much easier.
Great morning for meeting crews and photographing the yachts but one needs to be organised and quick.
I’d loved to have devoted some time to marine painting, oil or watercolours, probably water colours. (more…)

I can barely keep, up with it!
This is one of those days which reminds me of the debt we owe those who went before us to build our world.
The marine painting “Trafalgar Dawn” still haunts me (available in prints see http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/trafalgar_dawn.html).
I am planning a new piece of marine art, the opposite view.
Today was very 21st century though.
I have had today 3 enquiries about my marine painting which may be of interest and found myself yet again busy with Trafalgar and Admiral Nelson issues.

A beautiful, rare, icy sunrise today.
Helped a friend moving furniture in Castelnau de Montmiral.
A while back in CdM I asked one of the elder villagers how old the houses are?
I was told, well the village was laid out and built by a Count of Toulouse in the 13th century.
We have had a few fires but not much has changed… (more…)

Marine art has occupied much of my time over the past few days while I gradually develop a group of new marine paintings. I’ll tell more of the others over the next few days.
By biggest concern is for the Porto Fino super yacht scene which will show superyachts off Porto Fino at dusk.
The sketch here show the basic design.
It’s great to work on a delightful warm evening super yacht scene while outside we have – 4 C, steady snow falling and 2 inches ( 50 cms) of solid compacted ice on the hill into Itzac
Is this an ideal world, what do you think? (more…)
