A public service, I had the dubious pleasure of getting up early (I’ll do it for sailing…) for BBC Radio Devon. The good news was it was for Gordon “Sparkie” Sparks who claims he does not interview, rather, chats.

Plymouth, the city has been my home for over 22 years, most of which was based in Plymstock. 
Almost all of my most famous paintings were created while living in Plymouth including Roaring Forties http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/suhaili.html

The venue for this super yacht event is the legendary city of Monte Carlo, Port Hercule. This, the 19th Monaco Yacht Show 2009 is said to be THE superyacht venue of the year. 
The weather was stunning, 28 C and not humid but my first sight of the exhibition had to wait. (more…)

The Christmas and New Year period is usually quiet on the email front so a good time to work on the marine painting, including the large harbour scene 30″ x 48″, Cattewater, Samuel Plimsoll.

The famous marine painting “Roaring Forties” is a real piece of marine history, much reproduced by journals when writing about Robin Knox-Johnston and a very collectible limited edition and signed by the yachtsman Sir Robin Knox Johnston.
It was as you may be aware produced specially for and in close collaboration with Britain’s most illustrious yachtsman and master mariner, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.
We had a brief, charming compliament recently re the beautiful Heritage quality marine print of “Roaring Forties”, one of those thing which helps make our work feel worth while. (more…)
