Racing Yachts Marine Paintings, Marine Photography
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010I still find photographing marine art, well, any paintings, stressful.
I am yet to find a camera or film that always makes a good job of this even under ideal conditions and worse, some paintings are more difficult to copy than others, why?
I have just re photographed two of the largest major marine paintings in my collection, “Ice Maiden” ( see page http://www.frickers.co.uk/prints.html for a limited edition copy) and “Yamaha“,
also the new painting “Racing Yachts“.

Blue Funnel steamer sold
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010The new marine painting of the Alfred Holt Blue Funnel Steamer, last mentioned on this blog on the 7th of February is now complete.
Drat!

The Blue Funnel steamer Talthybius is not even on the web site yet, sold in less than a month so I’ll show you am few details below.

Thursday, January 28th, 2010“Ferriera” ex “Cutty Sark”, “Last Departure”
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010This very fine marine painting was exhibited onboard Cutty Sark at Greenwich, London, exhibited at the request of Cutty Sark’s then Captain, Simon Waite (photo on the web site).
This splendid marine art has resurfaced in a private collection, it’s owners one of whom is a decendant of Vasco da Gamma are offering “Last departure“ for sale as they are retiring and down sizing their home.

Marine painting progress and a super yacht dilema
Saturday, January 9th, 2010Marine art has occupied much of my time over the past few days while I gradually develop a group of new marine paintings. I’ll tell more of the others over the next few days.
By biggest concern is for the Porto Fino super yacht scene which will show superyachts off Porto Fino at dusk.
The sketch here show the basic design.
It’s great to work on a delightful warm evening super yacht scene while outside we have – 4 C, steady snow falling and 2 inches ( 50 cms) of solid compacted ice on the hill into Itzac

Plymouth Cattewater and the first real working day of the new decade.
