The transfer to Itzac was safely accomplished, a relatively easy drive of 11 hours in fine weather after 2 nights at the farm near Mont St Micheal to collect art supplies…
Among the many interesting emails greeting my return to life online and in hyperspace was an enquiry asking for family information and offline an Australian ambush was lurking… (more…)

“The frigate Condell marine painting went down a real treat. The Chileans were very impressed and Capt Cruz the commanding officer was over the moon and said he was going to have it welded to the wardroom bulkhead so none of the Admirals, and there were six Chilean Admirals present, could get their fingers on it!” wrote Captain John Simkins a director, the Chief Executive, Disposal Services Agency of the Ministry of Defence after the presentation of the completed piece of marine art commission .
The origin, this marine painting was commissioned by (more…)

The week end just passed is a big event in France, 90 % of shops shut. I was not allowed to buy one single drink…
You might think this an odd place 3 hours drive inland to find a marine artist, to create marine art?
Read of and have a taste of some reasons why (more…)

Naked model or clothed, Emmanuelle Duchesse proved to be a beautiful charming and nubile model for some 11 very talented artists’ life drawing in varied styles near Itzac.
Claire de Soissons who lives near Itzac created this life drawing occasion, no teaching, rather a congenial chance to get on with the work.
This life drawing session was a pilot scheme for future days to network with other artists and people interested in fine art. (more…)

At the Monaco Yacht Show 2009, Port Hercule, Monte Carlo, this was to be my first full working day in the world of superyachts, , meeting super yacht people, excluding the 4 commissions last year.
These remarkable people rapidly changed my perspective of the super yacht world.
For a start, The Monaco Yacht Show perhaps surprisingly has a carbon neutral certificate and advertises this fact with enthusiasm and when one learns more of he Monaco Yacht Show organisers achievements, with justifiable pride. (more…)

This time I drove to Monaco from Nice, with the Monaco Yacht Show is officially finished parking is much easier.
Great morning for meeting crews and photographing the yachts but one needs to be organised and quick.
I’d loved to have devoted some time to marine painting, oil or watercolours, probably water colours. (more…)
