Revitalised over the past few months: an Olympic marine painting, rarer, a marine portrait.
Ironically, this old and forgotten painting will probably become my most important painting this year?
So sorry I can’t show you the entire of this dynamic picture – yet.
This marine painting, a portrait, has just had a major upgrade to my latest standard.
My question is how to use this completely unique marine portrait to do the BOA, RYA and me the most good? (more…)

Arrived in Nice on the cote d’azur, via a brief visit to Antibes.
To stay at a 2 star hotel in Nice about half way from the beaches and railway station, near the old town.
I had no idea how enchanting Nice can be! (more…)

Seems like a good day to catalogue my work, my marine painting and marine prints in particular.
My car is not going any ware for a while…
I have been invited to show next year at the European Parliament, quite an honour, very very few British artists have show, Exhibit at the European Parliament
Still quad bike weather here and even the quad bike is sliding.
The roads remain almost impassable.
We are hearing from Castelnau, little traffic and only cars with chains are moving safely around hereand even them with caution.

Marine art has occupied much of my time over the past few days while I gradually develop a group of new marine paintings. I’ll tell more of the others over the next few days.
By biggest concern is for the Porto Fino super yacht scene which will show superyachts off Porto Fino at dusk.
The sketch here show the basic design.
It’s great to work on a delightful warm evening super yacht scene while outside we have – 4 C, steady snow falling and 2 inches ( 50 cms) of solid compacted ice on the hill into Itzac
Is this an ideal world, what do you think? (more…)

Today we had very good light here and a stunning sunset with the Pyrenees in clear sight, I’m told 100 miles away…
I worked on a painting of a Blue funnel steamer entering Liverpool docks by moonlight.
I also sent, big event for any artist, the requested list of paintings following the offer of an exhibition at the European Parliament, some 51 in all. (more…)

L’association Laperouse, a dynamic association based around the Museum of Laperouse in the old quarter of Albi launched a new book with champagne and “la galette des rois” about recent discoveries relating to Laperouse.
You may be aware of Laperouse?
Laperouse, navigator and discoverer was literally the French answer to Captain James Cook and the HMS Endeavour. (more…)

As a result of speaking with Ian Criddle and Nigel Overton, the Plymouth Evening Herald (circulation 250,000 +) has asked for an article on my new marine painting Plymouth Cattewater
and the offer of an exhibition at the European Parliament for which the painting is intended as a centre piece (unless some one makes me an offer I can’t refuse!). (more…)

My visit to Plymouth, looking back as I try to catch up on work at Itzac, went quite well including some good PR; the bad news was getting up early to be with Gordon Sparks on BBC Radio Devon the good news, Gordon Sparks Sparkie is great fun to be interviewed by,
There will also be a a piece in the Plymouth Evening Herald ~ (circulation about 250,000) by Tristan Nicholls of whom some including David Folley say “the best journalist on the Herald” about the new large marine painting Plymouth Cattewater and the invitation to exhibit next year at the European Parliament in Brussels.
The photo here is a different view of the the Cattewater, River Plym, Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club from which I used to sail in former family days and looks towards the east shore and my former home at Plymstock.
Besides visiting familiar places and there is more to tell! (more…)

Went last year and was surprised and facinated.
Today, busy with paperwork application to accept the invitation to exhibit at the European Parliament; … and have to find some where to rent soon. Could do with a few days at Monaco though, following up on last year’s efforts might get me an exhibition at Monaco / Monte Carlo too. (more…)

I turned down my invitation to the wedding, far to busy with great art matters, or behind schedule, take your choice….
I wish the couple well and I did regret not seeing the Spit flying, such a beautiful and heroic plane with a distinctive Merlin engine sound. (more…)
