Ancient village rocked til the early hours!

The week end just passed is a big event in France, 90 % of shops shut. I was not allowed to buy one single drink…  CdM_sat_eve_IMG_5937_wp.jpg

You might think this an odd place 3 hours drive inland to find a marine artist, to create marine art?    CdM_sat_eve_IMG_5943_wp.jpg

Trafalgar Day – Pickle, advertising agencies, TV, and a marine magazine

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

I can barely keep, up with it!
This is one of those days which reminds me of the debt we owe those who went before us to build our world.
The marine painting “Trafalgar Dawn” still haunts me (available in prints see http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/trafalgar_dawn.html).

I am planning a new piece of marine art, the opposite view.

Today was very 21st century though.

I have had today 3 enquiries about my marine painting which may be of interest and found myself yet again busy with Trafalgar and Admiral Nelson issues.  Pickle__detail_of_signal_2214__Popham__s_code_e.jpg (more…)

A beautiful, rare, icy sunrise today.   Snow_sunrise_IMG_6674_d.jpg
Helped a friend moving furniture in Castelnau de Montmiral.

I was told, well the village was laid out and built by a Count of Toulouse in the 13th century.
We have had a few fires but not much has changed… (more…)

Christmas Day in South West France

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Christmas Eve is at least as big here in the remote forested North Tarn as Christmas Day. Christmas_Day_Montmiral_IMG_6692_d.jpg

Normally because of my back ground and being single, I treat Christmas Day as just another marine painting working day, not this year… (more…)

A successful exhibition in the Tarn

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

If you measure successful exhibitions by the number of people attending and pictures sold then the recent show at Castelnau de Montmiral by Claire de Soissons, Pila Lopez and Michel Bonnal   has been a success.27_Mars_IMG_7017_d.jpg

The art work shown included engraving, sculpture and photography. (more…)

French landscape painting, open ended fine art

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Although my reputation is for marine painting, I am working as hard as I can on my Landscape paintings in particular those of Southern France.SP__014.04.10IMG_7212_d.jpg

I am bringing most of these originals to Plymouth on the 28th of this month for framing as I have several offers of minor exhibitions local to my French address and wish to clear some of these pictures and reduce my stock.
If they sell well I’ll paint some new versions, if not I’ll continue to focus on marine painting. (more…)
