THE WAYFARER (my all time favourite boat) WAS VOTED YACHTS AND YACHTING DINGHY CLASS OF THE YEAR FOR 2010.
What a wonderful start to the new year!Are_u_ready_to_sail_d.JPG

Years ago, well 1979 to be more precise, I built a wooden Wayfarer and missed a great opportunity to invest in my skills, another such has come up now. (more…)

Painting progress

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

August closes, marine painting has resumed in earnest at last following the difficulties caused by having to leave Itzac suddenly due to faulty electrics.

Being a bit out of practice it seems there is more paint on me than on the canvases, a situation I’m hoping to reverse.

Work has recommenced on the new version of the renowned “Trafalgar dawn” (available quickly and securely using PayPal as a signed numbered edition from page

http://www.frickers.co.uk/prints.html), an update written below.

Also on the easel in the past few days, HM Submarine Unique and “Emigration, Plymouth Cattewater and the Samuel Plimsol” ~ here is a brief progress report. (more…)

Web work, web master and the Cotswolds

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Staying with a good friend I have know since we were 10 years old is always a special experience, more so this time as 3 years ago Michael’s Mum was very ill in hospital and has made a remarkable recovery, so much so she was even “mothering” me when I felt I should be looking out for her!MB___Shiela_IMG_7809.jpg

To have a 91 year old Mum in such fine form is also a great tribute to Michael who is my first stop soft ware resource seeming to know the answer to almost all problems. (more…)

Easter and Pesach have passed over

Monday, March 29th, 2010

A stunningly clear morning, the mountains shown in the photo are about 100 miles away,  then gales here.30.03.10_Mts_IMG_7035_d.jpg

A beautiful full moon rise here in an almost clear calm sky  heralds the start of the Easter vacations in France.

The most immediate effect of this will be a marked decline in Internet speed as thousands of  kids go online and more Gendarmerie on the roads with portable radar, neither issue helping those of us with work to do!

In general the Internet in France is patchy as is mobile phone reception, neither being as fast and reliable as in England. (more…)
