This very fine marine painting was exhibited onboard Cutty Sark at Greenwich, London, exhibited at the request of Cutty Sark’s then Captain, Simon Waite (photo on the web site).
This splendid marine art has resurfaced in a private collection, it’s owners one of whom is a decendant of Vasco da Gamma are offering “Last departure“ for sale as they are retiring and down sizing their home.

I was contacted last year for a Port of Chester 1863 marine print by a lady in the U.S.A.
We have become friends.
She is writing a book and no I’ll not give away the story, it does though include a ship visiting New Crane Wharf as in my acclaimed marine painting The Port of Chester 1863.
A few copies left you can order quickly and easily by scrolling down page http://www.frickers.co.uk/prints.html or read up on the story of the marine painting on page http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/chester.html
She has asked about the language and words of command, maybe you can add to the following? (more…)

What does it take to make a successful marine painting?
More on that soon, meanwhile, other news today… (more…)

Just back from an awesome visit to Portsmouth brought about by one of my “icon” marine paintings, “I have urgent dispatches“ http://www.frickers.co.uk/marine-art/urgent_dispatches.html, WOT! you don’t have a copy in your collection yet? and it is going to be shown on TV? ~ available exclusively from this site as a limited signed edition.
Yesterday morning I joined Tom Cunliffe and the Forum Film team boarding HMS Victory at 07.30 to film part of an episode of “The boats that built Britain“, and was pinching myself by 08.00 in the Admiral’s great cabin wondering if this was really happening…

Katy requested a Remarque on her print so with her story in mind I showed The New Crane wharf with a unique scene in drawn pencil.
I always draw the remarques and sign in pencil, inks fade, graphite does not.
My sketch may give Katy an idea for how the cat got onboard the ship in her story. (more…)

Commming sooooon to the web site, a new section, Aviation.
Gordon developed a passion for aircraft at an early age living near Royal Air Force Biggin Hill in Kent.
We intend to show some of his previously unseen aviation pictures, publish eye witness accounts never previously published, air names like Boeing, Avro, Handly Page and many more, and soon, a new painting of the Red Arrows – if aviation is your passion too, watch this blog and web site!
