Christmas Day in South West France

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Christmas Eve is at least as big here in the remote forested North Tarn as Christmas Day. Christmas_Day_Montmiral_IMG_6692_d.jpg

Normally because of my back ground and being single, I treat Christmas Day as just another marine painting working day, not this year… (more…)

Wishing a Merry Christmas to all my supporters, friends and readers

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

This is to wish you a sincere Merry Christmas and to copy my latest newsletter for those unable to receive the News Letter.  Itzac_eglise_IMG_6583_wp.jpg

Some of you will not have received my email Christmas card and new Christmas News letter, copy below.

Reasons for this include bounced and blocked emails (more on that below).

The Internet can be bizarre, I’d had a reply from Robin Knox-Johnston, star of my “Roaring Forties” painting, then got an, INVALID RECIPIENT message re the address! (more…)

What is a “power law index”

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

My son, studying at Plymouth University asked me today thinking I might know from my boat building days.

That was a while back, I have been a marine artist for almost 30 years.

How should I know???
I thought the idea of Uni was to learn things parents don’t know, or have I missed some thing here?

Do you have any info or any thoughts on what is a Power Law Index? (more…)

Super yachts and Admiral Nelson

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Busy in the studio today.

I have some ideas to sketch re the possible marine commission I mentioned yesterday, but first, Admiral Nelson and super yachts.  Superyacht_sketches_IMG_6681_wp.jpg

I have several marine paintings in advance planning at present and several being sketched out including this one intended to be of a big superyacht (motor), with other yachts at dusk in Porto Fino but which yachts?

Want to nominate suitable superyachts?

A beautiful, rare, icy sunrise today.   Snow_sunrise_IMG_6674_d.jpg
Helped a friend moving furniture in Castelnau de Montmiral.
A while back in CdM I asked one of the elder villagers how old the houses are?
I was told, well the village was laid out and built by a Count of Toulouse in the 13th century.
We have had a few fires but not much has changed… (more…)

And the best way to move around the Tarn at present remains a 4 x 4 or …

Back in the picture or in this case, marine prints

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Marine prints and marine painting back on the agenda, see the list below?

At last I am able to again  accept offers of exhibitions!

Despite and because of the severe weather making roads all but impassable and much other activity difficult,  I have finally catalogued the framed marine prints here.  Itzac_Noel_IMG_6656_d.jpg

One at least is still missing, where is it? (more…)

Snow and more snow

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Seems like a good day to catalogue my work, my marine painting and marine prints in particular.

My car is not going any ware for a while… Ma_voiture_IMG_6579_wp.jpg

I have been invited to show next year at the European Parliament, quite an honour, very very few British artists have show, Exhibit at the European Parliament

Still quad bike weather here and even the quad bike is sliding.  Quad_solution_IMG_6609_d.jpg

The roads remain almost impassable.

We are hearing from Castelnau, little traffic and only cars with chains are moving safely around hereand even them with caution.

No marine painting, no marine art…
