Coming of the Messiah – Extra Info
Thousands of years ago the prophet Ezekiel was shown in a vision, the present-day state of the Eastern Gate at Jerusalem.
We read from this prophecy in Ezekiel 44:1-2, “Then He brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary which faces toward the east, but it was shut.
And the Lord said to me, “This gate shall be shut; because the Lord God of Israel has entered it: therefore it shall be shut.”
This sealed gate on the eastern side was built in approximately 640 A.D. Either by the last of the Byzantine rulers or by the first of the Arab conquerers.
Tradition equates this gate with the one mentioned in Ezekiel’s prophecy is dubious at best.
Some Archeologists believe that an earlier gate is preserved underneath.
The pillars of the Golden Gate are said to be a gift of the Queen of Sheba to Solomon according to one ancient legend, but these would not be part of the present gate above the surface of the ground.
It is too recent.
According to the record of the Prophet Ezekiel’s words, the Eastern Gate was to be sealed up and no man would ever again be permitted to enter through it until after the Lord Himself once more enters it in glory during the Millennial Reign.
Of that day we read in Ezek. 43:4 & 7, “And the glory of the Lord came into the Temple by way of the gate which faces towards the east.
And He (the Lord) said to me, “son of man this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever.”
The historical record since the gate was sealed fully demonstrates why Bible prophecy teachers are in awe of prophecy during our present age.
