HMS Pickle was the vessel chosen to rush the official dispatches of Trafalgar to England, HMS Pickle was “The Trafalgar Messenger”.

After a dramatic voyage she made landfall off The Lizard Point and anchored at Falmouth, Cornwall on the 4 th November 1805.
Celebrating Pickle Night now increasingly popular world wide, originated as the Royal Navy ‘Petty Officer’s’ night to commemorate the momentous battle of Trafalgar and The Immortal Memory’ (of Nelson).
HMS Pickle was one of the smallest ships present at the battle of Trafalgar.

To small to engage, she did however heroically rescue over 150 men and one woman from the burning (French) ‘Achille’.
That story and more of her colourfull history is on my web site
Pickle, a Plymouth based schooner originally named ‘Sting‘ was bought into the Royal Navy in 1800.
